'Knit buried beneath the surface'

I have now started my Final Major Project at college which means that after this is finished, I will be leaving! Anyway, I have finished doing my research and have started to sample. My ideas for the project are to create knit samples and either bury them in the ground or make it look like it by using earthy colours. I will be adding colours inspired by church tiles to add colour and to stop it being quite so dull. As this is the project that will be exhibited to the public, I hope that it turns out how I picture it to. I also plan to make quite large samples so that they can hang on either wall brackets or using invisible thread, but that's something that can be worked out at a later stage. I haven't done much yet as these first couple of weeks have mainly been research weeks but I have done some drawings that were
inspired by gravestones and how they have aged over time and have created a surface on them.

I produced these drawings using Promarkers, and I may create some more later on in the project, but this is just for a starting point. I also may develop some of these drawings by stitching into them or adding other colours.

I will be writing a lot more posts over the next 8 weeks, on the sampling process and the finished outcomes so look out for those..
